Course Description:
This course will examine medication options available for HIV prevention including Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), nPEP & oPEP. It will also examine the impact viral suppression has on the risk of HIV transmission and the basic concepts of U=U.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
Discuss options for HIV prevention for persons at risk for HIV
Provide patient education around HIV prevention services such as TasP, U=U, and medication options
Examine clinical trials history for U=U
Explore payer sources for medication including pharmaceutical assistance programs and insurance coverage
Demonstrate best practices for helping clients increase medication adherence to help reduce the risk of HIV
Discuss options for PEP, nPEP, and oPEP
