This three-day course is open to clinicians offering STI services. This class is for clinicians that examine patients.
Some of the objectives for the course are listed below:
Identify the sites from which specimens should be obtained.
Discuss STI Diagnosis.
Describe the management of STIs.
Describe the role of the disease intervention specialist (DIS) in STI control.
Explain how to monitor the patient and adjust care plan as needed.
Describe the importance of interprofessional collaboration in health department and private practice regarding STIs.
This training is sponsored by the STD/HIV Prevention Training Center at Johns Hopkins, co-sponsored with Virginia Commonwealth University Regional Partner of the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, the Virginia HIV/AIDS Resource and Consultation Center and Virginia Department of Health. There is limited space for this event and first spots will be given to currently practicing clinical providers in the state of Virginia and surrounding states.

Registration opens soon here.The MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center (MAAETC), the Virginia HIV/AIDS Resource and Consultation Center (VHARCC), and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) are partnering to provide a Virginia Case Management Community of Practice Call. This call will help case managers share best practices and strategies for keeping clients engaged in care and virally suppressed.
This month Certified Anger Management Specialist, Lindsey Eye from Strength in Peers will provide a workshop on Anger, De-Escalation, and Resilience providing skills we can use with clients.

This course will examine medication options available for HIV prevention including Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), PrEP, nPEP & oPEP. It will also examine the impact viral suppression has on the risk of HIV transmission and the basic concepts of U=U.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
Discuss options for HIV prevention for persons at risk for HIV
Provide patient education around HIV prevention services such as TasP, U=U, and medication options
Examine clinical trials history for PrEP and U=U
Explore payer sources for medication including pharmaceutical assistance programs and insurance coverage
Demonstrate best practices for helping clients increase medication adherence to help reduce the risk of HIV acquisition (PrEP patients) or achieve an undetectable viral load (people with HIV)
Discuss options for PEP, nPEP, and oPEP

This course will cover intermediate MI concepts and practices via didactics, case discussion, and demonstrations/practice. The training will be highly interactive and participants will receive real-time feedback on MI skills.
Learning objectives:
Participants will:Develop a working knowledge of MI concepts and practices
Understand the key issues in evoking client motivation to change
Develop awareness and basic skills in using broader MI counseling strategies
Be able to use key MI communication techniques OARS
Understand the four processes of MI – engaging, focusing, evoking and planning
